So let's start with Basic Greetings:

Hello: こんにちは (Konnichiwa)

  • Good morning: おはようございます (Ohayou gozaimasu)

Used in the morning until around 10 AM.

  • Good evening: こんばんは (Konbanwa)

Used in the evening after 5 PM.

  • Goodbye: さようなら (Sayonara)

A formal way to say goodbye is often used when parting for a longer time.

  • See you later: またね (Mata ne)

A casual way to say goodbye to friends, implying you'll see them again.

  • Thank you: ありがとう (Arigatou)

Used to express gratitude in a casual manner.

  • Thank you very much: ありがとうございます (Arigatou gozaimasu)

A more polite way to express gratitude, suitable for formal situations.


Practice Sentences Of these Words:


  • Hello, how are you? (こんにちは、元気ですか?)
  • Good morning! Have a great day. (おはようございます!良い一日を。)
  • Thank you for your help. (助けていただき、ありがとうございます。)
