 The Uttarakhand government has launched a special scheme for the girls of the state.

 In this scheme, financial assistance will be given to the girl child of a poor family. Gender discrimination in the country has only increased with time. 

Even today, in some places, when a girl child is born, she is killed. Keeping these things in mind, now through this new scheme, the state government will give money to the girl child from birth till her marriage, so that she can get the best education and stand on her own feet.

• Objective – The main objective of this scheme is to correct the sex ratio Still, the number of girls is less in comparison to boys in the country (Now the percentage of girl are increased in 2023). Apart from this, reducing the exploitation of girls is also the objective of this scheme. There is a lot of bad practice going on in the country, due to which girls are married at a young age, they are not allowed to study. All this also happens due to the financial constraints of the family.

• Assistance to be given:- Due to this scheme financial assistance will be given to the girl's family so that the girl will not be a burden to them.

• Benefits – Under this scheme, 51000 rupees will be given as financial assistance to the girl's family, which will be given in 7 installments from birth till marriage.

• Transfer of money to bank account:- The installments given by the government will be directly deposited in the bank account of the beneficiary.

Eligibility Criteria for Nanda Devi Kanya Dhan Yojana

• Native – Only the one who has the native letter of Uttarakhand will be eligible for this scheme. People from other states will not be eligible for this scheme.

• Income – The annual income of the beneficiary's family should not exceed Rs.42,000 if it is an urban resident, and should not exceed Rs.36,000 if it comes from a rural area.

• Birth of a girl child:- The child should have been born either in a government hospital or in ANM centers or child care centers only. If the girl child is born somewhere other than this, then she is not eligible for this scheme. It is mandatory for a pregnant woman to register her name in the Anganwadi before giving birth to a child.
